My service learning has shaped my teacher identity in a positive way.  I look forward going to my elementary school every Wednesday.  My students get very excited when they see me, as well I am to see them.  Last week one student told me he loved me.  The other students began to laugh, and I kinda ignored it because I didn't know how to react to it.  Then one of the students staid to me "Ms. V he said he loves you" I told him that I thought that was very sweet.  I also, see a connection with the students in my class who speak Spanish.  They like to have long conversations with me in Spanish.  One student told me that she would bring Nicaraguan money for me to see.  She would like me to bring money from my country for her to see, I think that was cute of her to want to know a little bit about my country.  The students even talk to the teacher in Spanish, even though she doesn't even speak it.
This experience is definitely preparing me for the future. Being able to observe the students and the teachers was an experience in itself.  I like the interaction with the teachers and the students.  The teacher and the teachers aid take turns teaching group A and group B.  (as I mentioned before my class in divided into two groups. A: very low reading level, B: is 1st grade reading level)  The students yell out who they want them to teach them.  The teachers then mutually decide who they will teach.  It's a nice thing to see.  It makes the students happy, as well as the teachers.
I think I have very little patience.  I have also learned that if I truly want to be a teacher, I MUST learn to be patient.  Although, for the most part my students are good, but there are a couple who distract the class and can make it difficult sometimes to teach.  The teachers yell at them sometimes or put them in the back of the class, until eventually they behave.  As I observe, I put my self in the teachers feet.  What would I do? What would say?  There are different ways to approach a student and I will learn how to deal with difficult situations as I continue to go to my class.  I am very happy with the school that was chosen for me.  I am very happy with my students and teachers that I get to see every Wednesday, this has been a great experience for me.
